Storytelling with Blocks
Minecraft: Story Mode, the plot-driven adventure game spin-off of Mojang‘s immensely popular block-building and survival game, was a major highlight at this year’s PAX Prime convention, which took place last weekend in Seattle, WA. Telltale Games, who are developing the game in conjunction with Mojang, released the first playable demo to convention attendees as well as offering up new screenshots and game details.
I Wish That I Was Girl Jesse?
Among the announcements: Minecraft: Story Mode will be the first Telltale Games offering to allow players to customize the appearance of the game’s main character. The player character, Jesse, will be available in both male and female versions, with several appearance options available for either choice. Only one of the male versions of Jesse was playable in the demo, but Telltale Games showed off a number of others in newly released screenshots.
Also announced: the game’s voice cast! The male version of Jesse will be voiced by comedian Patton Oswalt, while the female version will be voiced by Catherine Taber, who has extensive voice-over experience in numerous Star Wars video games as well as Cartoon Network’s animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Other actors confirmed for Minecraft: Story Mode include Billy West, Brian Posehn, Paul Reubens, Martha Plimpton, Corey Feldman, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter and Dave Fennoy, with more cast members to be announced in the coming weeks.
Like other Telltale Games releases, Minecraft: Story Mode will be released episodically, with the first episode due out later this year for nearly every platform: Microsoft’s Xbox One and Xbox 360, Sony’s Playstation 3 and Playstation 4, Nintendo’s Wii U, PC, Mac and both iOS and Android-based mobile devices.
